The trip that changed how I plan
A passport scare was only the first problem.
On a family trip to Costa Rica, my stepdad became convinced he had left his passport at home—hours from the airport. He went back for it, only to discover it had been with him all along.
He caught a later flight, then missed his connection. Because he did not fly often and was uncomfortable with layovers, we were not confident he could navigate the final airport transfer to Uvita alone. He ultimately went home.
